Edit: Apparently Clevo has worked something up to put quads in notebooks.

    See Gophn's post below.

the first notebook to test with a Core 2 Quad was the Clevo D900C (Sager 9260)

    Read the review about it:

    READ THE DISCLAIMER

there will be more notebooks on the way with its support, because at the moment its not recommended to have this high power consuming CPU in notebooks.

    WOW

    that is AMAZING

can't believe they fitted it with q6600

quad cores are as hot as hell

EDIT: damn, just read the review

sager doesn't support the q6600 (officially)

i knew it, quad core right now is way to hot for a notebook

Neat and all but quad core will mostly be put to waist in a notebook, where the gpu is usually the limiting factor. Unless your doing video encoding or something.

Asus said they want to try to get a quad in the c90 somewhere down the road, I dont know if it will happen tho. Its hot enough with a e6700 in there.

its not too hot (per say) for the Clevo D900C, its mainly the power requirement thats making Sager and other resellers concerned for long term usage.

The instabilities can occur since the quad-cores can pull more juice (along with all of the other components within this beast) than the stock 280watt power supply can muster up.

There might be a motherboard and power revision for this model notebook in the near future to give it the power headroom that it will need for stable quad-core use.

"This wattage increase brings additional heat and often will be combined with environmental temperature. "

    - from that review link

i thought it was heat problems

anyway, i can't believe it can fit x6800

i wonder what its battery life is like (during gaming) ;)

The C2Q's being used by Sager are just desktop versions stuffed into the notebook chassis. True mobile quad cores are expected to be released sometime next year.

    The title is off.

It should really read "Core 2 Quad" or "Core 2 Duo / Quad"

The main CPU in question at the moment is the Core 2 Quad Q6600 being used in a notebook.
