there are a few notebooks that i'm considering which have memory chips running at 533mhz and i am unable to customise them. i noticed that the core duo processors have a fsb of 667mhz. if this is the case, do i need memory chips which also run at 667mhz to take advantage?

nah, you don't need 667 mhz ram, 533 will work fine...

most of the 667mhz have CAS latency of 5 (the lower the CAS latency the better), and most of the 533 have a cas latency of 4...

Because of that and the relatively small speed difference, 533 will be fine...

However, 667 is still better so if you're purchasing from a 3rd party, ie. newegg, then go with 667, it's only around $10 more expensive for a stick of 1 gb.
