Hi, is it possible to upgrade from core duo to core 2 duo on ASUS A6Jc?? They only sell it with a Core Duo t2300 here where I live, I was thinking of buying it and THEN upgrade to core 2 duo later if possible. Does the I945PM chipset which this laptop has support core 2 duo? Need any bios update?? Anyone who knows for sure?? IMPORTANT!

    thanks in advance

Possible, yes, but you need to understand and make sure you are okay with, the fact that your warranty will be void and you need a BIOs update from the manufacturer.

Why will your warranty be void?
You are perfectly entitled to upgrade your system if you so desire, with your warranty remaining intact, as long as you do so correctly.

Contact whoever you need to contact to confirm.

Yes, you could upgrade to C2D.

In most cases, there is a "VOID" sticker on the CPU, when you remove the CPU it will, obviously come off....

I'm only assuming there is a reason the sticker is there in the first place...

For the most part removing the CPU will void the waranty. You will often see stickers over the CPU or heatsink saying "waranty void if removed". I would just save yourself the trouble and get a laptop already with a C2D.

But back to the original question, yes it is possible. They are both socket M and both have a 667 MHz FSB. Just make sure to flash your BIOS if possible before you do the upgrade.

Once you remove the thermal paste. I guess, your warrenty will be voided then.
