i'm ready to customize an hp dv 6000t but cannot decide if I should go with the 2ghz core 2 duo or 1.83 ghz core 2 duo. The difference is $100. Is there a big difference between the two. I plan doing some multitasking.
Thanks

Save your $100 bucks and grab some more memory or a faster hard disk.
Unless you'll be doing video encoding or another processor-intensive task your money could be put to work elsewhere. -
Unless you're using programs that are processor-dependent (like video editing), then no, you won't see much of a difference.
Use the extra $100 for more RAM or a faster hard drive which will make a more noticeable impact on performance.
Edit: Vespoli beat me to it.

It's worth noting that the T7200 is the best processor for price to performance ratio - you'll get the most bang for your buck. However, it's also more expensive, and as these two fine gentlemen have pointed out above, if you're not going to be doing design editing AND gaming AND torrenting AND coding .avi files at the same time, the T5600 will probably be plenty powerful for you. -
I have a T5600 and I am totally impressed with the performance. I think unless you're doing video editing and such, the t5600 will be more than adequate. As suggested before, ram is more important for multitasking than raw processor performance.

Other than, depending on the notebook, CPUs are much harder to upgrade in the future. RAM is easy to upgrade. Personally I would recommend the getting the T7200 over RAM. RAM you can always drop in EASY later. Not so with a CPU.

Id say get the 2.0ghz just incase so no rgrets later on

you do know that notebooks will have to be upgraded sooner or later anyways? So I would invest in more ram.
core2 duo 1.83 vs 2ghz?
