I've tried to search through the forums and I cant find the answer. I used to think I was pretty technically savvy until I tried to put an SSD drive(Corsair 180 Force GT) in this laptop.(DV7T-7000 I7, 16gig ram.) I've read where some of you have successfully cloned your old hdd to ssd or done clean installs to SSD... please help me before I put my head through the desk... I've been trying for weeks now. I tried cloning the drive and failed. I've tried clean install instead and failed. I burned a Win7 Home Prem disc that didnt work. I used my old W7 ultimate and that didnt work... I must have tried 20-30 things I've found Googling... didnt work. I can see the ssd with diskpart. Windows install sees the ssd and expands and installs the files... then when it says it has completed and will reboot in 10 seconds... it doesnt. It will instead reboot until the black screen comes up and says at the bottom. "Hit Escape for Startup Menu" but just sits there and doesnt do anything. If I keep Ctrl alt del and try to reboot again it says "A disk read error occurred, Press Ctrl alt del to restart" This is a brand new SSD drive, not one that was already in use as a storage drive or from another PC. I've run Parted Magic and done a secure erase. Partition Magic and a couple of other programs to try to repair the partition or mbr and stil doesnt work... Can anyone tell me how you got it to work? Thanks...

Return the SSD - it is a dud. If the same brand fails again; try one with a different controller/architecture.
Good luck.
corsair Force GT180 SSD -Win7 installs but when reboot-nothing
