    Maximum Memory Capacity: 4096MB
    Currently Installed Memory: 1GB
    Available Memory Slots: 2
    Number of Banks: 4
    Dual Channel Support: No
    CPU Manufacturer: GenuineIntel
    CPU Family: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz Model 2, Stepping 9
    CPU Speed: 3200 MHz
    Installed in pairs of modules.

Q: Will my system recognize the maximum upgrade?

    A: Possibly

How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. 32-bit versions of Windows will see (and utilize) only 3GB or 3.5GB. To utilize more memory, install a 64-bit version of your OS. More information about OS memory maximums can be found at http://www.crucial.com/kb/answer.aspx?qid=4251.

Q: What memory goes into my computer, and can I mix speeds?

A: DDR memory with support for DDR PC2700,DDR PC3200 speeds.

Because DDR memory is backward-compatible, you can safely upgrade your system with any of the guaranteed-compatible DDR speeds listed below, even if your manual calls for PC1600 or PC2100 speeds.

Q: How much memory can my computer handle?

    A: 4096MB.

Adding the maximum amount of memory will improve performance and help extend the useful life of your system as you run increasingly demanding software applications in the future.

Q: Do I have to install matching pairs?

    A: Yes.

Your system requires that you install memory in pairs.

Q: Does my computer support dual-channel memory?

    A: No.

Your system does not support dual channel.

Q: Does my computer support ECC memory?

    A: No.

Your system does not support ECC. Because ECC and non-ECC modules should not be mixed within a system, install the same type of modules that are already in your system.

download cpu-z, and go into the memory and spd tab, to see the memory installed, and the number of slots you have.

Also look in the memory tab, and tell us what chipset your laptop uses, and then we can tell you the maximum memory capacity.

    My friend has that laptop.
Let me find out what memory you need, I will be back in a minute

    EDIT:
Okay, your laptop uses PC3200 memory sodimms, and can support 2Gb of memory (2 x 1024mb). I have no idea why that program states that your system has 4 memory slots, because it does not.
Also, the 9700, is an AMD turion based system, not an intel system. Clearly that scan is wrong.
The best way to know for sure, is to open the base of the laptop, and count the number of memory slots, and read the memory clock speed off of one of the current memory modules.
When memory is matched in pairs, it just means that all of the memory cards are the same exact card. It supposedly gives higher data throughput, but its not necessary to have matching memory cards.

    I updated my post above

I will ask my friend Alex when he gets home from school, to tell me how many memory slots it has. It will be about 4:00PM, so in a few hours.

Kevin confirm you have 9700 not 7700, 7700 is P4 but has PC4200, 9700 does seem to be AMD and DDR400/PC3200. You are reporting half correct for both? Something is not correct, and if I was a betting man, I would say two slots.

Dude, take a picture of the bottom of your laptop.
    Its impossible to have a 9700 and a 3.2Ghz p4 processor.
The 7700, which has a 3.2ghz processor, is the clevo d900t. The 9700 has a cddrive on the front ejecting from the front of the laptop, and not the side.

Attach a picture, so we know which one you have, cause the specs and name are not matching up.
