    Nice find,
I am pretty sure that it will work without any problems.
However the bandwidth of the harddrive you want to put in there is going to be limited by the optical drive interface, which runs through either a parallel or a ATA/PATA/IDE hub. I dont know what the max speed of the optical drive interface is, but it is probably about 40mb/sec.

I wouldnt install the Operating system on the drive, cause the ide to sata converter in the optical drive adaptor cannot run faster than the internal parallel/IDE hub on the motherboard.

Good luck, its a nice find, let us know how it works out for you if you do buy it.
