    cpu jumping everywhere

    well was working on dual booting linux when out of no where the computer freezes when partitioning. So i deleted the partition left it as unallocated space and reformated vista again :mad: Now the cpu is jumping everywhere. Nothing on the process list is showing high amounts of cpu usage

    acer aspire 5920 - 2gigs ram - 1.5 cpu - 8600mGT

    1.did you check the all users process button ?
    2. you can open the resource monitor (you can see it in your picture) and configure it to show what uses your cpu.

    Go into processes -> Click on the CPU tab to arrange all processes in deceasing order of CPU usage and check 'Show processes from all users', at the bottom of tskmgr.

    system idle process
    svchost.exe

    its not letting me download / install my updates. I let it run for an hour and it still says 0kb total , 0% complete

    same with trying to install when shutting down it said installin 38 updates 1 of 38 and it just stayed there

    Go into the Services tab, and click on PID (one or twice) to get all the running services at the top/beginning.
    Then go back into the processes windows, and right-click on the 1st and 3rd service above ^ (one at a time), and then click on 'Goto Services'....Then see which services are highlighted for each process.

    SVCHOST normally goes high when you are running windows updates, no idea about trusted installer - could be dangerous for the system !!
