I read another thread about upgrading the cpu in a p4 laptop. I do not have my old laptop but it has a Pentium mobile with 1.6GHz and i was wondering what it can bee upgraded to. The other guy could get a fairly big boost for like 35 bucks. I can deem a 35-50 dollar cpu upgraded worth it not just for performance but also for a fun little project. So what can it be upgraded too? I don't know what the socket is or any further for the cpu right now but is hat enough info to find what kinda of cpu it had? Also i got a question. There wouldn't be a model of this that supported an older cpu either right? I assume that those info is for the right version.

EDIT: I read thee wiki article it might actually have a banias 1.6GHz...if so can i put a dothan in it?

edit did a little googling and found this

its 1 gig of ram 9600pro and a 1.6GHz 1600x1200 screen. No joke best screen on a laptop ever.

@page 3 from PDF you provided:
You won't be able to use a dothan the chipset only supports 400MHz

Pentium M - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    755 is a dothan

Revisions of the Dothan core were released in the first quarter of 2005 with the Sonoma chipsets and supported a 533 MT/s FSB and XD (Intel's name for the NX bit) (and PAE support required for it was enabled, unlike earlier Pentium Ms that had it disabled). These processors include the 730 (1.6 GHz), 740 (1.73 GHz), 750 (1.86 GHz), 760 (2.0 GHz) and 770 (2.13 GHz). These models all have a TDP of 27 W and a 2 MB L2 cache.

Yes you're right, sorry. In fact all the cpus in that list are Dothan.

But with the limitation of the chipset running only at 400Mhz, you have to choose one with the 7x5 numbering.
