Hi all!
I have an Acer as7740-5691 I haven't even opened yet. It comes with an i3-330 cpu. I'm bidding on an i5-430m to upgrade it with, but now I'm seeing references to what appear to be two different sockets, 988 and 989. The one I'm bidding on says it's for a µPGA-989 / "Socket G". Will this work in my system?
Thanks!
Eric

Are you sure the CPU upgrade is worth it? There is not a huge difference between an i3-330M and an i5-430M.
Note that by upgrading the CPU, you void your warranty.
That said I agree; the i3 and the i5 use the same socket to my knowledge so the upgrade should go fine . . . -
Thanks! Sorry to be so long replying. If the 430 isn't a worthwhile upgrade, what about one of the other i5s or an i7 620m?

Let me ask something else first: what do you plan to do with this notebook?
cpu upgrade socket 988/989?
