True but you can get 2x2gb 667ram for 70-80 bucks but you'd have to pay 100 for just 1gb. Besides I doubt that new ddr3 will have a big impact on the performance of a laptop over ddr2.

    Haha yup!

Is there even a laptop able to take DDR3? I mean by large we have a pretty limited selection on most of our upgrades

I think the new Clevo 860 is the only one which does at the moment, but I could be wrong.

Dont jump on getting ddr3, cause it will drop down to less than half its price in a few months. Prices of memory are always ridiculously high when a new technology is released. The same thing happened with ddr2. When a 2gb module was released it was $150 or so, and now it is about $40 for the same card.

Wait on the memory a little bit and you will see that it will come down in price.

Just as bad as the SSDs, they are bound to drop in prices in the future.

Give it a few months, prices will drop radically.

The Italian notebook maker Cizmo has a laptop that can use DDR3. But (unless you have this model or the one K-TRON mentioned - already) it's not something anyone here could upgrade to.

 Nice one! I don't think the 0.3W power savings would make up for the price depriciation even if you left it on all the time.

Yeah i dont think i'll be upgrading to a Clevo until the 6860 takes a ride with the ferry man.

Still i would love it if we did nave a bit more options.

My wifes desktop has 8gigs of 1600mHz ram and i'm piddling around with my 4 gigs of 667.

Its sad for 1200 more than i'm spending (laptop and upgrades) he computer is freaking 20 times more powerful than mine. And its slightly irritating, she begged me for dual 280s in sli...so here she is with 2gb of graphics power playing uber games like dinner dash and sims2...i feel like a complete and total retard for building her that kind of machine but i cant resist her "i need new geek toys" eyes

Had to purchase 10 * 2GB 667 for $800/pop a year ago. This was for laptops running vista with Virtual PC. Now you can get 16 for the price of 1.
