i had samsung 470 ssd(128gb) but returned it cuz there was no price difference between it and the newer, SATAIII crucial m4.
I ran HD TUNE on both and got the following
Samsung: ave: 246MB/s
access time: 0.192 ms
CPU Usage: 4.6%
m4 :ave: 252.3MB/s
access time: 0.159 ms
CPU Usage: 22.7%
m4 is faster but not by much, which is a disappointment.
but more importantly, the CPU usage of m4 is whopping 22.7%, while that of Samsung is only 4.6%. this worries me a lot.
the firmware for m4 is 002, the lastest available.
the notebook I have is W700ds, with T9600 dual at 2.8Ghz, running windows 7 pro 64-bit. I did all the updates, inc. service pack 1, before I ran the test.
isn't 22.7% of CPU Usage too much? anybody having the same problem with m4?
thanks

PROBLEM SOLVED
no worries, guys.
i had my notebook's power mode on eco mode (energy efficient mode)
i set the power to the maximum performance and CPU Usage dropped to 5.2%
still higher than Samsung but it doesn't worry me no more -
LOL you had me worried for a sec !!!
I just got a M4 128gb too. It does spike higher than my Vertex / Vertex 2 (i think)
It's probably nothing though
crucial m4 128gb high CPU usage (compare to samsung)
