Hello! I need some advice and help on a possible upgrade to a 12 cell battery..
Im unhappy with the life that squeezes out of my standard 6 or 8 cell battery and wanted to purchase another battery or a higher capacity/more cells one.

I contacted HP about this and they suggested i purchase this battery:

    http://www.shopping.hp.com/store/product/product_detail/PB995A

i gladly opened the link but as i look at the battery and the non-existence of my notebook model, i wonder how this would work... the blade connection that makes contact with the actual battery pack is on the left side while mine is in the middle. so i dont think it would work...

and as i look around the site they sent, i discovered these two batteries:

    http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/notebook/notebook_hp/batteries/1/accessories/EV088AA

    http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/notebook/notebook_hp/batteries/1/accessories/EV089AA

which look EXACTLY like mine. except i still dont see my notebook model # specified for safe use with.

i already replied to HP tech support about any more recommendations and if the two batteries in the last two links would suit my notebook instead...

i would say its a possibility because i think they discontinued my notebook and didnt want to bother to post info for it...

    what can i do?

    more reason to believe?

i searched around a bit more for compatible hardware and it seems their C700T model of notebooks arent mentioned in the page for the 90watt ac adapter...
but the V6000 is. the V6000 is also in the page for the 12 cell high capacity battery pack as well as the standard replacement 6 cell...

Look for someone that has a DV9000 pavilion and try their battery. If it explodes when you turn it on, then you got your answer!

Have you tried undervolting? This could give you an extra 10-20mins battery time and give you a cooler notebook without sacrificing performance

curious, why a dv9000 series?? are not their battery's much longer?

i think the dv9000 series battery is 11 inches while mine is around 8?
... unless you were being sarcastic =D

-Undervolting, i actually propose to but held it off to when i have a more time to understand what im doing.

Oh sorry yeah i meant dv6000. You migght wanna match up the voltages and specs first before you try it or it might fry your lappy. Usually if it fits it works

Undervolting isnt that hard to understand. Its benefits outweigh the risks by alot

Try the HP section of this forum, they might have the answer there

if i post this in HP, would that be considered a double post?

Request for a MODERATOR to kindly redirect this thread to the HP/Compaq section.

ah thanks for the tip. i'll need specs for the battery arg! the hp site is so very vague.

"usually if it fits it works" i hope this is true atleast one more time.

Thanks for the tip again. i'll try undervolting soon enough.. its possible i wont end up buying the battery, if i save enough

I do have a dv2000 battery you know..

Before, i tried the same battery from my older model dv2000 which has a different part # and it worked fine so part #'s can be compaible with other.

Heres what it says on the battery:
    Lithium-Ion Battery Module
    10.8v
    47Wh

If these matches up with the battery you currently have then you better just hope the battery fits right in. I could take a photo for you to see if it might fit in your batter compartment

ok all resolved. i contacted an HP tech with the live Messaging system and he confirmed that the 12 cell extended life batter model # EV089AA, is proper for my Compaq Presario C714NR.

i hope anyone else with my model finds this thread. Thanks for all your help FlipFire!
