i was given 1024 mb of DDR2-400 ram.
I'm interested if they will work with my core 2 duo 1.83 cpu?

Nope. The chipsets for the Core processors only support DDR2.

Throw it in your computer and see if it works.

this is a ddr 2 memory.
but only diference is, it's 400, not 600.
how will it work with 1.86 ghz processor. -
It'll work by the chipset using a different divider. -

3x600
it will be 4x400... or something like that.
