Hi, I am looking to order the new 1520 and was wondering if it is worth $48 to upgrade from 5400 to 7200rpm on the hard drive. Will I see a big difference in game loading and application loading times?

Is $48 much for you? If you don't get it you will not miss it. Here is a link where you can check somethings, http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/storage/charts25.html?modelx=33&model1=425&model2=394&chart=140 the diff between 5400 and 7200 is not critical to a lot of people, explain, if I sit 5 minutes I don't care about 20 sec, if it takes an hour I walk away and don't care about 4 minutes. Random seek times 15ms more less what I care? What are you doing, If I had $48 I didn't need yes I would spend but @5400 will be fine for almost anything, as I have said and will keep saying Defrag your HDD before you ask about HDD speed!

If you are looking at loading times yeah a faster hard drive will improve that but actual ingame performance will not whatsoever. IMO i think it is worth it but I'm not sure how much time and money is worth to you.

What drives are you looking at? I agree with baddogboxer that you won't miss the 7200RPM drive if you do not get it.

    I had a 100GB 7200RPM drive in my old laptop and now I am using a 120GB 5400RPM. I don't notice the difference.
