First time post here, so excusez-moi if I screw something up. Got a Dell Inspiron 6000 purchased in 05. Has the original Li-ion 4800 battery that has long been DOA (just been using the cord). Computer is trying to charge it(charge light blinks), but it's just past it's prime (sort of like me). Thought I'd replace it for Christmas so I order what was advertised as a new Dell Li-ion battery 7200 mAh from a third party vendor. When I got it, there's no Dell name on it, and the computer doesn't even recognize it. No charging light flash....nothing. I've read bits and pieces of other battery problems needing a new bios. I've checked and I have the latest bios.
Any advice here or do I just have a stinker new battery?
What say ye??

If the battery you bought does not have the same specifications as your original battery it is not going to work. Your best bet is to return the battery back to wherever you bought it. Than you should buy a dell certified battery. They may be a few dollars more but it will work in your system. Their are alot of knockoff batteries out there which do not work, unfortunately you bought one of them. So return it and get the right battery thi time around.
The model of the 6 cell battery you could get is:
310-6321
The model of the 9 cell battery is: (You would get more battery life with this one, but it will be more expensive)
310-6322

just ask the vendor how to deal with it , or ask your money back. most dell battery no matter replacement or original one the offer one year waranty.
like this page: http://www.all-battery.co.uk/laptop-batteries/dell-inspiron-6000.htm
ad like: Full 1 Year Quality Warranty.
however, i suggest you go for a dell inspiron 6000 genuine battery although a little expensive and dell battery have called back twice.
