I think you can upgrade to a 64MB 9000 offered by Dell. Other third party cards wont work. I think you"ll have to check to see whether the card is soldered or removable. If it is removable then you can most probably upgrade it to a 64MB ATi mobility 9000(but only those made by Dell, since laptop GPU's are custom built by the OEM's)

If a 64MB version of the video card was offered with your model, then you should have no problem swapping out the cards. Check Dell's spare parts store, it should be in there. ;)

It's not upgradable as it isn't removable. While the MR9000 is a 'dedicated' GPU, it's soldered onto the motherboard on the D600. The only way to upgrade would be to buy a new motherboard with the 64MB MR9000 instead of the 32MB version.

Ah, that's interesting. I didn't know that, thanks for telling me. Yeah, things have changed...I know on the Dell i9300, if you didn't opt for the higher-end graphics card, you could just go to the Dell spare parts store and buy the part, then slap it in yourself. Same goes for the i6000 - it's possible to go from the X300 64MB to the 128MB version.
