i have a dell m90 with
2.16ghz duo core
2gb ram
512mb 2500m
and i bought a radeon hd 4850 for an old ibm thinkcentre, but turns out i need a $85 power supply to use it.
my mum said it is possible to use the 4850 with the m90... is this true or is she a liar?
-
You cannot put a desktop video card into a laptop.
There is no space and there is no connector. -
What he said ^
So... your mom's a liar. -
Rest assured that the hd 4850 has only about twice the performance of your 2500m.
btw don't rage at your mom. you can use the video card elsewhere. -
Hey boy,
dont call your mum a liar, why should she lie to you?
She is just unsure that you cant use a desktop card on a laptop.
And btw, for future cases, desktop and laptop are two totally different platform. Almost all desktop parts cant be used on laptop and vice versa.
And the parts that you can upgrade for laptops are usually the CPU, RAMs, and HDD. And all not compatible with desktops. -
You can use an external video card with the M90. However, that would require buying an external docking station and a specific external workstation video card that is compatible with the docking station. Docking stations are kind of expensive.
I do not think there is a docking station that is compatible with a HD 4850.
dell m90 with radeon hd 4850!?
