Hi, I am trying to decide between two dell studio 15 laptops with the trade-off being that one has a less good processor but dedicated graphics memory and the other has a better processor but no dedicated graphics memory. I intend to use the laptop for basic home use and am also a computer science student so I need good processing capability sometimes. However, I don't intend to use the laptop for gaming or other graphics-intense operations. Also the size of the hard drive doesn't matter to me as I have an external one anyways. Here are the specs for the two laptops (the cost is the same), any advice would be appreciated!

    1) better graphics card, worse processor
    - Intel® Pentium Dual Core T3200 (2.0GHz/667Mhz FSB/1MB cache)
    - vista home premium
    - 3gb ram
    - 160gb hard drive
    - graphics: 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450

    2) better processor, worse graphics card
    - Intel Core™ 2 Duo T5800 (2.00GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache)
    - vista home premium
    - 3gb ram
    - 320gb hard drive
    - graphics: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD

Well, if you're not to gaming, then go for 2)..(Better battery life)

I would go for choice 2 as well.
The T5800 is a decent cpu, and the X4500HMD graphics card will be enough for the programs you need.
Its not a gaming graphics card since it is an integrated solution, so dont expect miracles if you ever decide to game.
Choice 2 would get better battery life than choice 1 if they used the same battery. That is because the intel integrated graphics card uses much less power than the ATi 3450 graphics card.
