Hi
I'm new to processors and CPUs so please bear with me.![]()
I'm thinking about buying a Toshiba Satellite A135S4487 Core 2 Duo T5500 or Toshiba Satellite A135S4467 Core 2 Duo T5200
but the problem is that I want to know the the differences between the
Toshiba Satellite A135S4487 Core 2 Duo T5500 (1.66GHz)
or
Toshiba Satellite A135S4467 Core 2 Duo T5200 (1.60GHz)
so really I want to know the differences between 1.6GHz vs 1.66GHz
-
not a huge difference between the processors themselves, they are both core 2 duo, but they are both 2MB L2 , and only 533 MHz FSB
-
The speed difference is negligible between a 1.6 Ghz and a 1.66 Ghz, its .06 Ghz, and even with a 2 core processor, .06 times 2 is only .12 Ghz overall speed difference. Is there any other differences between the two, then the processors?

Toshiba Satellite A135S4487
CPU Type Intel Core 2 Duo
CPU Speed T5500(1.66GHz)
CPU FSB 667MHz
CPU L2 Cache 2MB
and
Toshiba Satellite A135S4467
CPU Type Intel Core 2 Duo

go with the higher FSB

I'd spring for the T5500 if possible; the T5200 is a budget Core 2 Duo.
The real difference between the T5200 and the T5500 is the FSB - the latter has a 667MHz FSB. THe 60 MHz clockspeed difference is negligible. -
is 533 fsb vs. 667 fsb really noticeable?

10% faster at most and probably less (you can get an idea by comparing the T2050 and T2300 results here, or trawl through the SuperPi results (from my experience T2300= 88s, T5600= 76s, T7200= 62s). So, if you are doing something which loads the CPU for a minute on the T5200, then the T5500 might get through the task in 55 seconds. You will need the stopwatch to see the difference. In normal use both will feel the same if the other hardware is the same. If the price is the same I would go for the T5500, but I wouldn't pay much extra for that little improvement in performance.

I hope that Toms' Hardware will add more CPUs to the mobile CPU charts but at present the T5xxx are not featured. -
Thanks guys
you all really helped me out
so for me I get the
Toshiba Satellite A135S4487
CPU Type Intel Core 2 Duo
CPU Speed T5500(1.66GHz)
because it has a huge hard drive (220GB) & 2GB of Ram max to 4GB -

I was wondering who had brought out a 220GB HDD while I wasn't looking. The answer is here: 100GB + 120GB. I can't figure out where the secondary HDD goes.
