I am customizing A sager 2095, getting Windows XP.
I can get Core2 Duo T6400 instead of the Intel Core Duo 1Mb 2.16 T3400.
Is it worth $50 extra and why?
I am just surfing the web, watching movies, Youtube etc.
    No gaming or anything fancy.
Anybody know any coupons for Sagers.
    Thanks
    Laura

The T3400 is a Pentium Dual-Core, and for the tasks you mentioned, the T3400 is fine.
For just $50, you can upgrade to the T6400 if you want to, but that won't improve the performance of web-surfing, movies (non-HD) and youtube.

BTW, the T3400 is a cut-down version of the T5850, not the T6400.

T3400 is just cut down T6400 with less L2 cache, not going to make that noticeable difference.

Core 2 Duo T6400: CPU based on the Intel Core microarchitecture with Intel 64 support and 2MB L2 cache. It runs at a clock speed of 2GHz and has 800MHz Front Side Bus.

IntelĀ® Pentium Processor T3400: Cut-down version of the above CPU with 1MB L2 cache and 667MHz FSB. It's clock speed is at 2.16GHz.

Personally I'd think its worth it for $50. I mean most laptops the CPU isn't easy to replace/replaceable anyway.

Guys the t3200 isnt a cut down version of the t6400. Reason: The t6400 is a penryn the t3200 is a merom. The t4200 is the cut down version of the t6400 the t3200 is the cut down version of the t5800. Anyways The t3200 is a pentium dual core. the diffrence between core duo and core 2 duo is core 2 duo is 64bit. You dont need to worry about this because you have a pentium dual core merom core which is 64 bit. Other then that there is misc things like slower FSB ( front side bus ) and less L2 cache.
