here's the issue i've noticed different brand vendor video cards say, dell or sager can't use each other's sli/crossfire cable it doesn't connect and wont stick properly. also i was wondering another thing different video cards pulled form different laptops also aren't compatible, because the back metal plate sometimes is to long or 2 short, so what i'm wondering is, is there some kind of universal connector sli/crossfire and also is there a way to remove the backplate securely off with out damaging the video card? or are those things soldered on?

backplates tend to be stuck on with tacky glue.

Any incompatibilities between physically identical cards is down to bios issues be it system bios or video bios.
