Hi,
I have been noticing that when I open the laptop, the display is dim then slowly brightens up....I never noticed it before....is this normal, kind of like an old tv warming up? or could the inverter be going out?
Thanks

Try details - what type of display?
What are they called CCFL or somthing like that?
If I'm not mistaken they are like a energy saving lamp - so its feasible.
If its LED it should be full brightness immediately.
Maybe post your laptop specs - may come in handy. -

I didn't say its energy saving - I said its like an energy saving lamp which also takes time to warm up.
Sorry if it wasn't clear. -
thanks again, I gave you a rep

Thanks
At least - as long as you get full brightness fairly quickly it shouldn't be a problem. -
I have recently noticed this same thing with my ancient HP in my signature. I thought it was just the age and use of it.

as they get old this becomes more common.. the bulb ages just like any light bulb does..

Every lightbulb takes a few seconds to warm up and emit its full power. LED's are different, but with every ccfl laptop it will take a few seconds for the screen to get to its full brightness.

I don't think it's on its way out. My brand new LG LCD TV is pretty dim when i first turn it on but becomes bright after a few seconds. So is my laptop. If I'm not wrong, LCD backlights last for tens of thousands of hours, so you'll have to be using it non stop to burn it out.
display light on laptop question....
