hello guys
i just wanna ask a question,
i am writing alot of dvds this days about 3 or 4 daily and i need to insure that data are written correctly so i use data verificaion in nero after each dvd burn, and so burning + verfying takes about 30 min , will this damage my drive over time?

It probrably will, since wear and tear will occur with prolonged usage. However, I'm sure the notebook drive will last longer then the notebook itself, so its never really an issue.

thanks for your information

Verifying the data on a disc and making sure it's all intact and not corrupted is more important than the drives life span. After all, I'm sure you care more about your data than the drive.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesnt disc verification simply check the files and than use a laser to make it so that the files are under a "protective coating"
Thats at least what I heard. Not sure if its right.
It probably will not effect the drive expectancy much. The drive is designed to burn CD's and DVD's
I think the most I ever burned was 18 DVD's in a day on my Pioneer A09XL dvd burner. But that was a one time run.

do verifying data decrease dvd life span?
