We can't help you without more information. Without knowing the chipset the dongle is using, there isn't a way to figure out what drivers you need (unless somebody here has the exact same WiFi dongle). I suggest you plug it into an available free USB port and go into Windows System Properties (Win Key + Pause|Break). Go to your device manager and see if Windows displays any hardware information about the device. That may help you in figuring out what chipset the dongle uses.

i ran Everest Home Edition, but all i got about the dongle is this:

    Field Value
    Hardware ID USB\Vid_0ace&Pid_1201&Rev_0101

does that mean anything to anyone?

I did some digging for you:

Driver Description (ZD1201)IEEE 802.11b USB Adapter
    Driver Date 05/15/2003
    Driver Version 1.63.0515.2003
    Driver Provider ZyDAS
    INF File ZD1201U.INF
    Hardware ID USB\VID_0ACE&PID_1201&REV_0101,USB\VID_0ACE&PID_1201

Your chipset is the Zydas ZD1201 USB-wireless-card chipset and your driver (I'm assuming Windows XP is what you need) can be found here:
