wuts the difference between an x7900 and an x9000 there both 2.8 ghtz![]()

The X7900 has 4 MB L2 cache, whereas the X9000 has 6 MB of L2 cache. The X7900 is also built on a 65 nm production, whereas the X9000 uses a smaller 45 nm production.
By the way, theres no such thing as a dumb question on NBR. -
k so the x9000 is better then? is it the santa ross 1?

Quick search found this ( the link doesnt work) ;

They are both processors that work with Santa Rosa, but the X7900 is a Merom based processor, and the X9000 is a Penryn one. The Penryn is a die shrink of Merom. It, in theory, should be cooler and more power efficient.
In comparisons are made between the two in processor heavy applications, they will come out very close to each other, but the X9000 may be faster due to its larger L2 cache. In other applications, they should score similarly, with the X9000 being slightly faster.
For normal day to day tasks, you won't notice any difference between them. They will spend much of the time downclocked to a lower frequency anyway. -
dum question.............
