Hey I was looking into buying the HP dv5000t so I was wondering a few things:
Is it worth it to upgrade from the 1.83Ghz Core Duo to the 2.0Ghz or even better? Or should I downgrade?
    • Celeron M 410 1.46 GHz -$205.00
    • Core Solo processor T1350 1.86 GHz -$105.00
    • Core Duo Processors:
      • T2050 1.60 GHz -$75.00
      • T2250 1.73 GHz -$55.00
      • T2400 1.83 GHz Base Price
      • T2500 2.0 GHz +$75.00
      • T2600 2.16 GHz +$250.00

Should I upgrade the RAM after I buy the laptop or get their 1GB upgrade which is 50$ more?

Is it possible to upgrade the Graphics card and is it even worth it? Actually I'm not sure I'll do this just wondering. I'm not planning on gaming that much but just for my information.

Honestly if you are using the notebook for basic things such as word/internet surfing and other daily tasks, the difference between 1.83 an 2.0ghz is insignificant, so stick with 1.83ghz.

As for the RAM, I noticed that on the hp site they are doing a free 1gb upgrade, so you should get that otherwise upgrading later will be more expensive due to that fact that they use 2x256mb instead of 1 stick for 512mb of RAM.

You should also get the dedicated go7400 instead of the integrated graphics if you plan on gaming just a little.

I would go with the T2250 if you don't plan on doing anything intensive.

Yeah, I'll be using it for programming, watching movies, listening to music, and it maybe my main computer (unless i build a desktop) so I want to be running linux on it. So yeah I might just go with the 1.73Ghz.

    Thanks for your help.
