    ok i have an hp dv6500t a CTO notebook it has an 8400m gs with the HDMI port on it im just curiouse if for any of you guys does the HDMI do sound because i used it once on my brothers TV the picture went across fine but the sound didnt. i dont have any HDMI cables at my house so i cant test. i sort of need to know because im reccomending to my freinds parents a dv9700t with a blu-ray drive to use with their hdtv

    HDMI does indeed carry sound, as well as video, through the cable. THIS thread might interest you, as it's basically based upon the same premise as your question.

    Go to your sound playback options

    Right click SPDIF Digital > Set as Default device

    Right click again > Test

    Restart whatever player your using. Sound should now come out off the tV

    i did read that fourm thats what reminded me of the problem unfortunatly i dont have an HDMI cable nor the laptop i lent it away. also i thought the SPDIF digital was for the SPDIF 3.5mm jack in the front of the laptop but then again i do trust you because your using a dv2000 with HDMI which sadly is better then my laptop in ever way /cry

    The SPDIF digital out is for both HDMI and 3.5 jack
