I recommend Kingston or Crucial or any major brand with a good rep and lifetime warranty. Should take 200 pin DDR. I recommend going to NewEgg.com or ZipZoomFly.com and installing it yourself to save money

Any brand with a lifetime guarantee should be fine. And I second the recommendation of Newegg. :)

I meant which type..not brand. Sorry about that. I was looking on HP's site but I must have overlooked it.

The dv8000z comes standard with PC2700 memory. You can also upgrade to PC3200 memory but you'll have to replace your OE memory if you want it to run at PC3200 speeds. Otherwise it will just downclock to run at the same speed as the original memory.

So a PC3200(400Mhz)/PC2700(333MHz) 200 pin DDR SODIMM should work.
