    hi everybody,

i dont know whether i used right terminology for my question.

there is no "safely remove" option for dvdrom in my notebook.
I can easly plug out or in, but i did not try when my notebook is power on.
I wonder that if there is a possiblity to do so? by any program or configuration?

otherwise what could be the consequences if i plug out when the power is on?

    thanks for any help

    note:my notebook at my signature.

I think the basic rule is it depends on the drive :D

    All USB ones are.
I believe SATA ones are too.

save remove is only useful for disks that you can write to, and the os might cache some of the writes. the save remove will flush the cache, so that all will be on disk.

a dvd rom has no write function (burning a disk would be nothing with an os cache as well) => there's no need for "save removing"
