I originally posted my question here:

I was having a problem with the hinge separating the back cover from the front bezel, so I ordered a new back cover that came with hinges attached and it looks exactly like this:

Does anyone know how stiff these hinges come when brand new? I assumed that I would be able to grab the bottom part of the hinge and rotate it forward and back to simulate the lid opening and closing - but the hinges that came attached to the cover stick straight down just like in the picture I linked, and they don't seem to have any play to them...they are just stuck in that straight down position. Maybe I'm hesitant to use too much force, maybe I just don't understand where the rotation point is in the hinge mechanism, or maybe there's some sort of locking mechanism that needs to be released somehow? Thanks in advance for any help.

Nevermind - just figured it out. Just in case anyone else is looking for the answer though, the hinges just come super stiff and take quite a lot of force to move.
