Has anyone purchased one of the after market batteries from eBay? I've got a Toshiba M115-S3094 and the original battery is lasting for about 15 minutes now. It was fine up until a couple months ago when the laptop sat for 4-5 weeks without any power -- it may have been left in suspend mode.

I'm considering buying one of the 12-cell 8800 mAH batteries for about $80. The original is a 4000 mAH battery that lasted for almost 3 hours when new.

Finally, I've also considered rejuvenating my current battery. There are software products like AccPlus that together with a DIY circuit can talk to the chips in your laptop battery. You can do things like reset the life to trick the system into using the full capacity. As interesting as this is the amount of time is a bit more then I have right now and if the cells really are toast I'd be out the expense of buying replacement cells too. In the end, for a single battery, it would be close to the cost of an eBay 12-cell.

You can't treat eBay like WalMart. It's really going to depend what battery you get and who you buy it from. However, it's recommended to purchase "official" batteries.

I just bought a refurbished high cap 2nd battery for my toshiba R100, still waiting for it tho. it costed 50$ instead of the 350$ from toshiba.ca, and it s an original battery. I ll tell you if it s any good. I ll also buy a new primary battery from ebay but I want it brand new, still it s very cheap.

I've bought camera lithium ion batteries from ebay in the past and have had good results with them. That is, none have exploded in my cameras. But I'd be more cautious about getting one for my laptop as it's a much more expensive item and harder to live without. I look at buying stuff from ebay as like buying an item at a garage sale. No warranty and buyer beware.

to be quite honest, you'll probably get a little less battery life from aftermarket than original, but it should still work fine. I mean look at the "reputable" 3rd party manufactures like Targus and Kensington, they both offer batteries and what not, its all made in china anyway.
I bought aftermarket ebay batteries, had no problems with any of them.
