Hi, i've got Acer G9 (593) with no intel graphics, no optimus. Only Geforce 1070. And i've got USB-C with Thunderbolt 3. Will i be able to connect external graphics card like RAZER CORE ( http://www.razerzone.com/store/razer-core) or any other box with external gpu.

It's not officially supported so the chances of getting it stable are low. And with a 1070 it's not really worth the hassle.

eGPU won't fix your problem unless it has it built in you won't be able to get optimus.

    No point. A 1080 performs slightly higher than a 1070 over TB3.

Pretty pointless considering a 6700HQ already bottlenecks a 1070 in some games.

Well, Battlefield 1 on ultra is getting around 100 fps in 1080 and 40-45 in 4k.

GOW5? You mean Geard of War 4?

    Precisely

    Also,

    CIties: Skyline
    Total War: Warhammer
Arma 3 (Everything bottlenecks here - even the 7700K can't keep a 1070 fully fed)
    StarCraft 2

I also have a question about TB ports difference. That's from the review:

When i check wikipedia, TB3 has 3 versions, any chance to learn which one is in my lapop?

Intel offers three versions of the controller: [56]
    • one "DP" (Double Port) version that uses a PCIe 3.0 ×4 link to provide two Thunderbolt 3 ports (DSL6540)
    • one "SP" (Single Port) version that uses a PCIe 3.0 ×4 link to provide one Thunderbolt 3 port (DSL6340)
    • an "LP" (Low Power) version that uses a PCIe 3.0 ×2 link to provide one Thunderbolt 3 port (JHL6240).

All 3 of those interfaces bottleneck GPUs more powerful than a 1060 since the TB interface is routed through the PCH lanes rather than the CPU lanes. eGPU is currently not worth doing unless you use an actually good proprietary solution such as the AW Amp or the MSI box-thing. Those 2 have full-speed PCIe rather than the crippled TB3 speeds.

I still wish to know if external GPU via tb3 will work on non-optimus laptops? While it maybe won't give me a boost, I'm still interested, as a proof of a theory.
