    Hello notebookticians,

When upgrading my factory laptop hard drive to 7200.2rpm, I recycled it into an external USB2/eSATA external interface. It works like a charm via USB, but nothing happens when I connect it via eSATA.

I don't have all the cables/accessories with me today, but am I correct to assume that the reason it is not working is that it requires a power source of some kind?

There are only two connectors on the case - eSATA and USB - but I think I saw some kind of other cable that could be used for power while using eSATA.

    Does anyone know? Thanks :)

Yes you need power. The sata port does not provide power like USB does.

Look at your documentation. Some times you can power it through the usb cable while using the esata cable for data.
