I'm flummoxed by the lack of USB ports on laptops. Even 18.4" beasts have generally only 4. Luckily they have a eSATA port also.
I was curious if anybody knew of a eSATA to USB hub. I think that it would be a great solution, because you would lose very little speed thanks to the much greater abilities of eSATA. Thanks!

Never seen a eSATA to USB. Closest to what you are looking for is ExpressCard.

Why don't you use a USB hub for devices where bandwidth isn't an issue (ie: mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc)?

AFAIK - Arent e-SATA compatable and double as USB ports???

At least on the laptop I used with an eSATA port did... it worked as a USB and/or a eSATA.

Try it. A USB Plug should go in just fine and gently. Its just a little looser than a regular USB Port Plug in.
Just dont force it in. ;)

That's mostly for HP laptop with special dual purpose port.

Don't know whether if these are bidirectional bridge.

You can connect a SATA port multiplyer for your esata port and split the bandwidth for all your usb devices.

My Dell has an e-SATA/USB 2.0 port as well. The fit is slightly tighter than a regular USB port, but it works perfectly.

Not all eSATA ports are integrated with USB ports. Just get a USB hub.
