This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     external HD waking up from idling

    Is it normal for an external HD to suddenly wake up from idling without me accessing the HD? This happens in a random interval and it is getting really annoying.

    While you don't access it, Windows does, I don't think there are any way to prevent it beside unplugging it from the computer....
