    hi i got the older western digital my passport hdd and right now. i want to get all my stuff from my laptop into and usually i have to open WDSync_v7_1_020.exe to get into my profiles but every time i open it, it crashes..and when i try to do the SAFE stop it says its being used by a program but im sure it isn't.

    ...so... uh... what happens when you just open my computer, right click the drive, and hit "explore"?

    . it won't let me register my hd. also can i format my hd then take out all that program and just simply drag and drop to use it?

    Yes, that's the smart thing to do anyway. Any software puts your data in a format that it can't be read without that program is terribly designed IMO, unless it's performing some high level of compression on that data.

    I always get rid of that crap when I get a new drive, including my WD Passport and my Seagate Freeagent Pro.

    Keep in mind that formatting the drive will delete ALL data on it!
