Hello peoples i need some help so here i go.......

ok i have a 500GB NTFS external WD drive and its full (theres only like 20GB left on it)
and for some reason everytime i enter a folder on there that has all my videos a little window will pop up and say (Can't read partions do you want to format)
but only when i click on that folder...

i can click on my pics and music and everything else but that one folder,
And last night everything was working fine on it...i didn't turn off the pc or unpluge the drive by Accident or anything

It says the folder has nothing in it but it should have about 420GB's to 450 GB's worth of data in it....

I used the error checking on the disk but right when phase one ends it says (Windows can't finish checking the disk)

I had a program a few ago and had it scan the drive but can't remeber what it was....but when it scaned,it said that there was (Linux ext3) partions or sectors on it or something i don't really know but i never had this drive on a Linux...

but if thats the main problem is there a way to turn back those to whatever windows uses..???

    Please Help

    thank you

    tylor

Try a linux's live cd to see if you can access the drive? You may want to get another hard drive to transfer the data too.

Yeah I would do this or Hiren's BootCD see if you can get any data off.

For basic recovery I use EASEUS Recovey wizard, though not guarenteed and it takes a long time it does a good job. Don't know if that would work on your hard drive.

Hrm that's odd. And you are absolutely sure you had stuff in that folder? Like someone else using your computer didn't delete anything on it? Stuff just doesn't disappear like that. I have only seen a couple cases where data just disappears.

We had an customer work in Audit mode for 1 year before he realized it and well of course every time you shutdown it deletes what's there as it is only a temporary Admin account. We were only able to recovery certain documents.

Though you could always retorrent your Anime folder. :p

Everytime i click on the folder the window freezes and after about 2 min the little window will pop up telling to format the drive....i can right click on it but thats about it....

Man thats alot of anime i would have to retorrent i had about 2,000 vids on there...well at least thats what it said everytime i checked to see how many files were in it...lol

i had all the ep's to bleach and naruto in there its going to take forever

Right now im using that recovery program you said...seeing what its going to do but its going to a long time,it says 8:38:28 so i say about 6:30 am or 7:20AM untell its done to see how many files i can get off

Oh never mind, your drive is starting to fail/has already failed. If it is still spinning fine then it is just a logical failure. Yeah I would recover your data quickly and replace that drive.
