im running W7 and i have been having this external hard drive for over 2 years now, and when i plug in my external hard drive this morning, it asked me to format my hard drive before using it. I did not and then i went go My Computer and I couldnt find my external hard drive. On the External Hard Drive itself, the blue light still flashing and i can hear the hard drive is spinning which is i guess its working. Can you tell me what is going on? I tried on different computer but still not working.

Sounds like either the external housing is failing, or the drive itself. How about trying with another cable first?
cheers ... -
Check in Disk Management to see if Windows actually detects a partition.
If it doesn't, then you may need to try this utility

i tried another cable, but still doesnt work.
and i can not access to Disk Management when the hard drive is plugged in, it freezes.
Is there a way i can access to my data and take it out? i need all my data -
you could try removing the drive from the case, it should be a standard IDE or SATA interface.
use something like this to read it if you need to access it via USB
