    Does anybody know it`s a Western Digital WDE1U5000

    I have done a search and looked on the WD website without success.

    Problem with WD is they do not always use the same drives so between one and the next, you may end up with a different drive. Just look at the WD 250GB Passport drives, they could be either 2MB or 8MB cache and you can't tell from the packaging, only when the drive is plugged in (BEA for 2MB,BEV for 8MB). Even the 160GB Passports could be IDE or SATA interface drive.

    It should not make much of a difference, harddrive cache sizes does not make much of a difference on read/write speeds. Most harddrives are faster than the USB interface.
