Hello, I am going to purchase a new laptop and I will have the monitor from my desktop not in use. So I figure I can attach it to the laptop and use dualview (is that the name?) to extend my desktop space. My questions are:

    1. Is it possible to use an external monitor in conjunction with a laptop when the resolutions are different?
    2. Is it possible to play a game on an external monitor or must it be played on the laptop LCD?

    Thanks!

    1. yes, there is no problem. the video card recognizes the external monitor as completely distinct.

    2. yes, the notebook just sees the external monitor as, well, an external monitor.

    no problems.

So if I had a window half way on each screen, (not sure why I would want to do that) one half of the window would look different than the other because of the difference in resolution? And the icons on one screen would look different than the other?

So how do you decide which screen you want to play the game on? Is there a setting in dualview where it can be changed?

Also, is it a hassle to setup the laptop to be used with the external monitor? (You know, if I took the laptop away from home every day and then when I came back home and want to hookup the external monitor, would I go crazy because of what it takes to set it up every time?)

    Thanks for the quick response!

no it is very easy to hook up a external monitor all you have to do is plug it into the video out(15 pin port) port on the back of your computer. most of the time you will need to activate the port but you can do that in control panel or (for some laptops) function keys,

Note*** both screens will display the exact same image just at differnt resolotions(better or worse) but same image.
