    failed upgrade cpu

    Hi all, thank you in advance for your replies. I ve got an ACER 5560 with APU AMD A4-3300m and i bought an A8-3520m , as you know they have same socet and watts i allready update the BIOS to the latest 1.15v from ACER's site. Now the prob is my notebook doesn t able to open when i press the pwr button, after 2-3 times opens and i go on BIOS options and i see the new APU eventualy in the os Win7 ult 64bit it recognize the apu butt hardly no the gpu after one minute a got blue screen. Any ideas what s wrong with it? And might i solve this ****?

    If you have a spare HDD/SSD laying around, try a clean install of the latest O/S (Win10) to rule out software/driver errors.

    @Lamorno try safe mode. Something wrong with the drivers, I believe. You'll most likely need a clean install.

    I tryed to install win 10 via a cd but stops sydenly due the problem. And in the safe mode doesn t open as well

    @Lamorno try loading default settings in BIOS. If it doesn't help, try clearing CMOS settings by either disconnecting CMOS battery for a minute, or running cmospwd.exe -k from DOS-bootable flash which essentially does the same.

    I find it hard to believe a quad core is not using any more power than a dual and usually dual cores have woosier heatsinks... don't trust TDP it's a rubbery figure. You may also have not reapplied the heatsink/paste properly. Hard to check temps when it's not booting properly though. Do you have an IR temp gun you can point at the heatsink?

    @Starlight5 i ll use your useful advice and i ll lety ou know the results. However @
    bennyg the paste repplied properly with my fathers assist he was electronic engineer so he know about paste, no i ve not temp gun but now i put back the A4 and it works fine the temp is 40c

    If I would've seen or read this before the replies - I would've told you the upgrade isn't worth it for any AMD based CPU. If it was iNtel that be a different story. My .02.
