Thanks all for helping and great questions. I have been reading through a lot and found them very helpful.

However, could anyone tell me where i can purchase cheap ram and harddrive to upgrade dell 6000. I have not purchase the laptop, but in a process of looking at the components to see if it is cheaper to upgrade it myself or have dell do this. I found out that ram is cheaper to do it myself. I have looked at kingston memory. I know they are good, but are there other brands that are comparable. I am having a hard time on the harddrive. It seem like this is still expensive. It is probably better for me to buy an external.

    any suggestion would be appreciated,
    Loc

search for notebook memory running your speed from brands like kingston (i think this stuff is overrated, ha), crucial (same), corsair (nice stuff), ocz, muskin, pqi <-- are all reputable companies.. i'm sure I left a few out.

Dells already have 5400RPM drive, so to upgrade to 7200RPM will be expensive.

I'd also recommend ZZF. I order most of my computer-related items there, and have been more than satisfied. Packaging is excellent, and they have fast shipping.
