yep, after about 4 years of usage, one of the PNY PC2700 512MB DIMM has failed. Computer starts 1 out of 4 times and the problem ran away with the module off (it had 2 of these, now only 1).

I did notice the RAM place under the laptop used to get warmer than before the upgrade, but didn't bother too much. Well, after 4 years or so it finally gave up

it's not the MB since the other module works on the place of the first one, they said (computer not with me)

    weird.

I had a similar problem on my A75. It has 512MB on board and had 512MB of Kingston in the one slot. It would boot fine from cold but after a while would boot to a distorted xp start screen and then restart (like it was an overheating problem). I could take that SODIMM out and it would work fine. I replaced it with a 1GB SODIMM and it now works fine. Since another SODIMM works fine in the same slot, it was obviously the RAM that was bad, just weird it went bad one day out of the blue.
