last time i heard(like years ago), i remember being told that it is impossible to swap the functionality of the fn and ctrl keys in laptops due to bios settings or something.
    does this still hold true?

its frustrating cause there are alot of good laptops that i would consider buying right now, but having that fn key on the most bottom left of the keyboard rather than the ctrl key is seriously a deal breaker for me =\
(a good number of leveno, sager, and asus laptops are like this)

Some laptops (HP Elitebooks are the first example that come to mind) have a BIOS option to swap the keys - but obviously, your keyboard will have them mislabeled if you do swap them. Others, such as the Thinkpads, do not have this option, and therefore cannot swap their Ctrl and Fn keys.

I would not place too much emphasis on this small variation - you'll get used to it very quickly. In fact, I now prefer having Fn in the bottom corner, as my external keyboard and both of my current laptops' keyboards are in this configuration.

You can always swap the keys physically if Fn and Ctrl key are the same size. I did that on a school computer's keyboard. Quite a few people noticed it and freaked out. LOL
