Do you wish that you could have purchased a notebook with a 15.4 inch monitor?
I can only spent so much time in the store looking at monitors, so I need opinions from people that have owned 14 inch monitor notebooks for an extended period of time.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
I moved from 14 to 15 inches.
For general day to day use the 15 inch is great.
For college use (which is unfortunately what I'm using it for) the 14 inch is better. In fact I've reverted to taking my 14 inch machine to class and leaving the 15 inch machine in my dorm room.
It's not that the 15 inch machine is too heavy, it's just too big. -
yeah, the 14-inch is ideal for me too. i used to have a 14.1 inch Gateway MX320 that was great for transport to the classroom. Now I have a 15.4 inch MBP that makes it a bit more difficult to take places, but not impossible. If only Apple dished out a 14-inch MacBook with a dedicated graphics card...

I found 14" to be the sweet spot for portability and viewing area.
-
I've had this 14 inch for 2 years and I do not regret getting it at all. I do have a 15 inch also, but I very seldom use that.

I went from an Acer 8204 with 15.4" (1680x1050) screen to an ASUS A8JS with 14" (1440x900) with a better GPU Go7700 with no regrets except for the lower battery life (9 cell vs 6 cell). If you're not running on battery a lot. It should be fine.
-
I have 2 14" models and they are just the right size. I might feel differently if I was to get a 15" with higher res than the 14" but I haven't gone looking for it actively or seen the difference.

I have at 15.4 inch and its a hassle to bring to school.
I've been looking at some 14" that my frnds have and they look totally fine to me.
But if i'm using the laptop at home, which is what i usually do, then 15.4" is the way to go. -
What resolution and how is your eyesight? Go 14!

I've used two different 14.1" laptops (one 1024x768 and the other 1440x900) and overall they're not great to look at, especially in comparison to my 17" laptop. They're the ideal size for a mix of portability and screen size, though.
-
I prefer a 14", although I have also owned 15" and 17". For the most part, the screen sizes aren't very different. The larger sizes are unnecessary for most of my uses - you can just get closer to the 14" screen if you want.
The only problem with the 14" I have seen is the image quality. Even with the same ppi, the larger screens look better. You sacrifice everything else (heat, battery life, weight, size, etc) but in general you get a better picture with a larger screen. -
14-Inches is an awesome size. At first I wondered whether one inch would make a huge difference-It does! The 15 inch machines at the Best Buy I visited were nice, but I really liked the significantly smaller size (and still acceptable price point) of the 14 inch systems there.

Lol, I've used 12.1, 14, 15.4, and 17 extensively, and I have found the 17 inch (my primary notebook) to be the BEST; 14 is just too small (which is what my brother uses [contrary to the fact that he's bigger than me LMAO]).
If you're looking for opinions, I think the way you worded your thread was far too bias. You named it "for those with a 14 inch monitor"; therefore, primarily those with 14 inch monitors will read and reply, saying that the 14 inch is the best.
But maybe I misinterpreted, are you just asking those with 14 inch monitors to give their opinions? Iunno, because if you ARE asking only people who own 14 inch monitors, they're probably going to say that it's pretty good [to have that size]. -
If you take it around a fair amount, go for a 14"... when I'm at my desk, I connect it to my 19" widescreen desktop monitor (and external keyboard and mouse)... much nicer. On the go... the 14" is a manageable size.
But if it's going to stay in the house 95% of the time, and you want to be able to use it in different rooms, get a 15" and enjoy the extra screen space.
? for those with a 14 inch monitor
