ok, so i was just messing around with my laptop before i was going to do a reinstall, and i found something out about the dual cores:
[Registration Data]
Date Of Registration=6/13/2006
[Registered Product]
Product=Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED MB (Date Of Purchase: 06/05/2006)
[System Information]
Processor=Intel Pentium III (Clock Speed: 2.0 GHz)
i got that from looking at the audio HD file (start> all programs> creative> sound blaster audigy advanced mb> product registration> product registration details) and i thought that was wierd. i didnt think they made P3's anymore. can anyone else confirm this?

Centrino are modified P3 processors. Dunno if tis applies to duo cores 2.

p3 core is/was one of the best core designs ever. With some tweaks & modifications, Intel keeps producing great products based on it.

The newer processors are NOT actually P3's though, just to be clear. Like was stated, they're based on P3's. In the sense that the P3 was a wide pipeline, lower speed style chip, while the P4's went more towards less bandwidth, more speed. Different ways of approaching the overall power issue. Turned out the P3 style was much more efficient with newer technology implementations for less power consumption and heat, which is why those chips were so popular in mobile solutions at first. With some of the newest features Intel's designed, they'll eventually move into the desktop market as well. Sampling a bit of the P4 tech, to go along with whatever new ideas they come up with.
Many utility programs haven't been properly updated to read the cupid information and misidentify the processors as P3's, since it's a similar configuration of chip.
