hello, new member here, long time reader,
im currently in london from vancouver canada and am having a problem with my power adapter, (asus w2j notebook)
im using a convertor rated for 850 watts that switches the power from 110-220,
the adapter lights up for about 5 minutes and then shuts off and then im stuck with the remaining batteries.
not sure why its doing this.. i have another asus notebook (z63a custom build) that has no probs powering up and staying powered.
any clues or advice would be greatly appreciated.. the adapters are different for the notebooks... the w2j one outputs 19v @ 4.74a where as the z63a (working one) outputs 19v @ 3.42a
i have 2 convertors that do the same thing.... one at 850w and the other one is unlabled.. probably a cheap 50w one..
i am using the 850 watt currently but both do the same thing.
it takes a couple hours of the adapter resting before i can replug it in and see green light again,,
thanks again for any help offered..

also in addition... neither the adapter or convertor get hot at all... barely even warm

You shouldn't need to use a voltage converter - the notebook's PSU should be rated as 100 -240V or thereabouts (UK voltage is ~230V). All you need is a converter for the mains plug.

Yeah, heck, my S96J's power adapter is rated from 110v to 240v a neat surprise just in case I ever needed to travel to Europe with my notebook.
