    Hi All, im new and could do with some help if possible, i currently have the above laptop with a t5250 socket p processor and was wondering what processor i should get as an upgrade. i have been told the t7300/t8300 would work a treat but wanted some opinions before buying regarding heat issues etc. many thanks in advance des. :)

    According to Google, it should have a 965-series chipset, so you should definitely be able to use the T7300 or the T8300. You could even go up to the T9300 and T9500 if you wanted.

    thanks for the reply :) sorry im a bit new to all this, yes it has the 965 chipset and i have read it will only take a max of 2gb of ram? If i went for the t9500 would this be ok regarding heat issues etc and would the bios automatically recognise it?
    I have looked for bios updates but it says i have the latest installed (pheonix 1.01c ) thanks des

    The 965 should be able to take at least 4GB unless your BIOS sets some sort of artificial limit; it can take more in many cases, too. The T9500 has the same thermal envelope as the T5250, so there shouldn't be a problem with power or heat; if you have the latest BIOS, the upgrade should be plug and play.
