    g sync external monitor laptop questions

    if a g sync capable laptop is plugged into a desktop/external monitor will the monitor have to be g sync capable too for g sync to work on it? or will g sync work even on non g sync monitor as long as the laptop is g sync capable? what if the monitor is g sync capable but the laptop isn't? what if the monitor is g sync capable and the laptop has g sync capable gpu but no g sync capable display?

    what if the lid is shut on the laptop while connected? would the connected monitor turn off/lose signal too?

    That is a lot of "what if's"!

    I can answer for my situation. My notebook display is non-gsync, and it works great with a g-sync external. I can have the display on the notebook on or off and the gsync works the same (144hz gsync, internal display non-gsync at 108hz).

    It should work the same with the lid closed (as long as you set it to run when lid is closed) but I personally would never run a notebook that way. Normally some of the buttons need the display open to reach anyway and I don't like to block any heat dissipation with the screen closed.
